Performance Artist Claims Jay Z “Used Her” For His “Picasso Baby” Film

 

Back in 2013, Jay Z created a major spectacle at the Pace Gallery in New York to shoot his visual for “Picasso Baby.” The RocNation CEO spent six hours filming with random fans and performing his song off Magna Carta Holy Grail. The video also included appearances from Judd Apatow, Michael K. Williams, and performance artist Marina Abramovic. Nearly two years after the video aired on HBO, Abramovic has revealed that she’s PISSED at Jay and that he “used her.” Find out why she’s mad after the jump!



In a recent interview, Marina Abramovic said that “cruel” Jay Z used her for his “Picasso Baby” film. Abramovic allowed Jay Z to adapt her artwork for his visual performance of the song off Magna Carta Holy Grail as long as he did something for her. After she was asked about appearing the video, Abramovic said that Jay was supposed to help her build her institute, but he didn’t come through.
“There was one reason for this I can’t talk about,” said Abramovic. “I am very pissed by this, since he adapted my work only under one condition: that he would help my institute. Which he didn’t. The day before, he came to my office and I gave him an entire power point presentation and said: okay, you can help me, because I really need help to build this thing. Then he just completely used me. And that wasn’t fair.”
The “one-way transaction” has left a bitter taste in her mouth, and she’s not holding back any longer. Jay Z has not responded about Abramovic’s claims.. yet. Watch the video below.
