“I feel blessed,” King Louie says as he recuperates from being shot in the head.
King Louie was shot in the head December 23 on the South Side of Chicago. During an interview with CNN,
the rapper said what he believes is going on in Chicago. “The Devil’s
working overtime,” King Louie says during the interview. "That’s what’s
going on in Chicago. The Devil’s working overtime. Evil.”
King Louie was reportedly shot at 83rd
and Pulaski. He says he was in his car and getting ready to leave a
friend’s house when 22 shots rang out. He says he was hit seven times.
"Three of the slugs are still with me today,” King Louie says during the CNN interview, "two in my chest and one in my head.”
Nonetheless, the Illinois rapper says he is fortunate. “I feel blessed,” he says.
King Louie participated in the "Put The Guns Down” campaign,
which aims to put an end to the violence that has been ravaging Chicago
for the last several years. He says conditions in the Midwest city can
improve.
“I think there’s hope for Chicago,” he
says. "Like I say, prayer. I don’t think I would be here today if it
wasn’t for prayers. I deeply appreciate all the prayers that people made
for me, everybody that prayed for me and the prayers for my family and
everything ‘cause that got me through, kept me strong and got me through
my situation. So I say we just got to be strong and pray for our city
and the right people just got to do the right things.”
